Wood Fencing
Good neighbor, nail-on, louvered, board-on-board, and horizontal — built from high quality redwood.
Fence Styles
What We Build
We build every major wood fence style using premium redwood — a material naturally resistant to moisture and decay that ages beautifully in our Bay Area climate.
Good Neighbor (Board on Board)
Looks the same from both sides — the framing is built into the fence itself rather than sitting on one side. Boards alternate on each side and slightly overlap, providing full privacy. The most popular style for shared property lines.
Louvered
Also looks the same from both sides like board on board, but the boards are installed differently — overlapping like closed shutters rather than alternating. A classic, traditional style that provides full privacy.
Nail-On
The framing sits on one side and boards are face-nailed on the opposite side. Available in many profiles: dog-ear, flat-top, pointed, shadow box, and more. Works well for side and back yard applications.
Horizontal
A clean, modern look with boards running lengthwise. S3S and S4S surfaced redwood are our standard for horizontal fencing, and we also offer Ipe hardwood. A popular choice for front yards and contemporary properties.
Materials We Use
All posts are set in concrete. Galvanized hardware throughout. We do not use materials from big box stores. Materials vary by project — not all of the above are used on every job.
Lattice Top
A lattice top is a great way to add extra privacy on top of a standard height fence. We offer diagonal, square, triple diagonal, triple square, 1x2 piano key, and 2x2 piano key lattice — and can do custom patterns to match your existing style.
Our Process
How It Works
Site Walk
We come out for a free site walk, assess the property, and give you an honest recommendation for what makes sense.
Detailed Estimate
We email you a detailed estimate with a clear total price, broken down box by box. That price will not change unless you change the scope.
Installation
We show up on time and work efficiently. We aim to complete the project in one day, depending on job size.
Clean Completion
We clean up to the best of our abilities when the work is done and haul away all old material and debris.
* Old fence posts and concrete are not removed below ground level.
FAQ
Common Questions
What types of redwood do you use?+
For vertical fencing, construction common rough redwood is our standard. For horizontal fencing, S3S and S4S surfaced redwood are our standard, and we also offer Ipe hardwood. We also work with construction heart rough redwood, A-grade redwood, and clear no-knot fence boards depending on the project and preference. Pressure treated douglas fir is used for posts and kickboards. Not all of these materials are used on every job — the right selection depends on the project.
What is a good neighbor fence?+
A good neighbor fence looks the same from both sides — the framing is built into the fence itself rather than sitting on one side. Boards alternate on each side and slightly overlap to provide full privacy. It's the standard choice for shared property lines.
What is a louvered fence?+
Louvered is built the same way as a good neighbor fence in that it looks the same from both sides, but the boards are installed differently — they overlap like closed shutters rather than alternating. It gives a more traditional look and provides full privacy.
Do you add lattice to the top of fences?+
Yes. A lattice top is a great way to add extra privacy on top of a standard height fence. We offer diagonal, square, triple diagonal, triple square, 1x2 piano key, and 2x2 piano key lattice patterns, and can do custom work.
